Tuesday 28th February – walk **** Circuit of Christchurch Park in Ipswich – cloudy with cold northerly wind.

With Mag having a full cast fitted today early at Ipswich Hospital we left Felixstowe at 8.30 but not before I sorted out a few pics I had taken at Felixstowe Ferry last night. I had headed down there at 9.30 in hope of seeing the Northern Lights not leaving until 12.15, sadly I didn’t see the aurora but really enjoyed being out enjoying the stunning night sky with a great half moon with some top clouds, I think the coloured sky seemed to appear around 9 so probably missed it:( Mag was quickly replastered, then had an X – Ray , lastly the doctor said the wrist was set fine and we booked an appointment for her to have the cast off in 4 weeks:)
It was then a short drive over to Christchurch and we entered the Park at 11, it was cloudy but the light rain we had when leaving the hospital had thankfully stopped. We took the long straight path across the park to the tennis court side and found a bench for our cuppa and chocolate biscuit and were soon surrounded by very friendly grey squirrels who took a liking to the peanuts we had taken to feed them. We also had visits from Great Tits, a robin, pigeons, a magpie and we were lucky enough to see 3 jays too. Being out of the cold northerly breeze we had a really pleasant, relaxing time before setting off again, past the wild lake and over to the Grand mansion house. It is free to enter and we actually went in and were impressed by the friendly staff and interesting things to see, we even bought a cuddly Jay for Jay our son Dans partner and mother to our new Granddaughter Maeva, it even calls when you squeeze it:) Then over to the round lake and through the wild nature section with yet more squirrels before returning to the van to head for home.
We then had a great afternoon with the lovely Maeva who is now all smiles at the moment:) Great day!
